Finished Magazine Advert.

I will go into more detail on my magazine advert in my evaluation.
The reason I didn't use a picture of Gabrielle Aplin is because of copyright and also I wanted to use an element of mystery. Gabrielle Aplin is not very well known so the fact that her identity will be released with her album is a good way to promote her album. It will get people listening to her.

Questionnaire and focus group

So that I know my music video meets all of my criteria. I will be putting together a questionnaire and a focus group with my target market. I will make them watch the music video and then afterwards I will ask them to fill out a questionnaire with their views on the video.

The layout of my digipak

The layout I have chosen allows me to give the right amount of information I need to. I don't need a ton of pictures and lyrics for her album as it would just be a waste of space (unnecessary).

Distributing

I want the music video to be viewed on television. Therefore, I will need to add information about the song and the artist at the beginning of the video e.g. "Ghosts" by Gabrielle Aplin. I would prefer the video to be on music channels such as NME TV. This channel hosts a number of videos with the same genre as Gabrielle Aplin. As for the advertising, this will be distributed to NME Magazine. Although my target market said they read more fashion magazines, if Gabrielle Aplin can get photo shoots in any of these magazines, it will most likely persuade them to read NME and to buy her album/ digipak. NME Magazine hosts a number of new and upcoming artists and this is the exact category that Gabrielle Aplin falls into so she will attract people's attention a lot more. I will be doing a focus group in the very near future to see if people from my target market agree or disagree with my decisions.

Digipak Design

I researched all of the possible digipak nets there were, and chose the 6 panel net. This is because the album doesn't need all of the extra pages. It's a simple yet mesmerizing album so it will fit with a simple digipak. I can still fit in all the information I need to, just the same as if I used a 10 panel! All of the dimensions are on this website: http://www.duplication.ca/printspecs/digipack.htmThese are the size standards of the digipaks:

6 Panel standard - 139.5 mm x 125.5 mm x 7.5 mm
4 Panel standard - 139.5 mm x 125.5 mm x 6 mm
8 Panel standard - 139.5 mm x 125.5 mm x 9 mm
10 Panel standard - 139.5mm x 125.5mm x 9mm

Layout of Album Cover and Advert

The initial design of my advert and cover is a polaroid layout. I want the image to look like it's an old fashioned polaroid image to portray the mood of the album. It has that old-fashioned acoustic sound to it. There will be an image of a girl with the hands over her eyes and chin with 'Gabrielle' written on one hand and 'Aplin' on the other. On the magazine advert there will be information on the album name and features of the digipak. This information will be written on the border of the polaroid. I am currently creating a mock advert on paper but I will upload this as soon as it's finished.

Ideas for Magazine Advert

I want the magazine advert to have the same image as the digipak cover so that people are able to recognise the artist's cover easily. I want the images to be mysterious to suit the music and it needs to fit the indie/acoustic genre. Here are some images, courtesy of weheartit.com that show the mise-en-scene and just the general image that I want to create.

It will have an old vintage camera look to it as I feel this fits in well with the genre. The models face will be hidden not only to create that mystery but also because I can't use Gabrielle Aplin herself. I don't want the target audience to think that the model on the cover is Gabrielle Aplin.
